Team diversity has the potential to solve complex problems and deliver stellar performance. Unfortunately, this potential is often met with barriers that hinder team performance. The team diversity keynote illuminates the inconvenient truth about team diversity: it does not necessarily lead to better performance. Drawing on 30 years of scientific research, the keynote: (1) defines team diversity, (2) how it relates to performance, (3) in what situations diversity does increase performance, and (4) how organizations can practically benefit from these insights to drive a diversity strategy that promotes high-impact performance.
